I’ve reached a point in my life where spiders and The Purge aren’t the only things I fear.
Even though phrases like “do not fear” and “God is under control” have officially become overkill- the war between what I feel and what God says is never-ending.
When it comes to the battle of fear vs faith, there are a couple of things we must keep in mind.
Yes, fear can be paralyzing. But when we decide to make decisions based off of it, we’re making a bold declaration that God is not able.
Often times, fear tag-teams with emotions and drives us to make a decision that feels right at the moment and icky later on.
But it doesn’t have to be that way!
Fear loses it’s power when we choose to trust God more than what we fear.
Ignoring your fears isn’t the same as choosing faith. Oppressing your worries isn’t the same as having faith. Actively choosing to believe God is greater than anything that lies ahead is faith.
For God did not give us a spirit of fear; but a spirit of power, of love, and a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
Since the beginning, God reassures us that we have been made in His image! So even when things get chaotic, there’s a reservoir inside of you where power, love, and a sound mind inhabit.
Next time you find yourself face-to-face with that one thing you fear the most ask yourself “What spirit is currently driving me to make a decision?”
I’m praying for you.
